Help the continuing work with the Grebe Project at Lake Wānaka by purchasing one of these limited edition T-shirts.
Since 2013, John Darby and a small team of volunteers have been helping pūteketeke / Australasian crested grebes (the Bird of the Century!) to breed successfully by building and installing floating nest platforms near Wānaka Marina. Close monitoring tells us that more than 500 grebe chicks have now fledged from these nests, boosting the grebe population on Lake Wānaka and on nearby lakes.
The beautiful logo featured on these T-shirts was designed by a talented local graphic designer, Merle Sea, and it perfectly highlights the heart shape made by grebes during their courtship dance.
Each shirt purchased will contribute $5 to the Grebe Project to ensure they can continue to monitor the birds, build and repair nest platforms, run education sessions, trap predators near nests, create interpretive panels and promote grebe conservation.
